KHULA

Khula refers to the act of a married woman initiating divorce proceedings. Typically, this is motivated by legitimate reasons such as immoral conduct, mistreatment by the husband, or failure to provide financial support.

It is encouraged for a woman to refrain from seeking khula for unjustified reasons and instead strive to maintain a respectful and loving relationship with her spouse. However, if the marriage irreconcilable and the husband does not issue talaq, she may pursue a khula.

Please read the ‘Khula Application Guidance Notes’ before applying.
Please note that Khula cases can take between 2-4 months and there is no way to expedite the process.
